I always think that Father’s Day is sort of the underdog of holidays. Not counting maybe like, flag day, there’s usually a lot less fuss about celebrating dads. Today we’re putting a stop to that by revisiting one of our favourite dad-DIYs. These DAD glasses cupcake toppers are so easy to make, and they’re very versatile! You can use them as cupcake toppers like we did here, or drink stirrers – because come on, what did isn’t going to enjoy a manly cocktail this Father’s Day? Or even print them out larger for fun photos with the family!
The inspiration for this project actually goes back a long way. When I was in grade 1 or 2 we made these DAD glasses for Father’s Day (complete with tissue paper “lenses”, they were quite the fashion statement). When I was thinking about projects for Father’s Day last year, I stumbled upon the same craft, amped up a bit, and got to thinking how easy it would be to make little “dad glasses” cupcake toppers. After all, my whole life is pretty much “how can I somehow get cupcakes on the menu for this occasion?” They turned out SO sweet, and I’m a little obsessed.
All you need for this is our father’s day printable and some cupcakes. I went with some fun primary colours, but they’d look great with any colour combo! I used my Cricut Explore to cut the glasses, but you could just as easily hand cut them with some precision scissors and a Netflix show to keep you occupied. I pretty much swear by crafts & Netflix. It’s like the food and wine pairing of the blog world.
And that’s it! Give your dad some love from us!
