Make this sweet hot chocolate cone for easy gifting + a free printable gift tag!
Gift giving can be overwhelming, especially when you’re on a tight budget and want to make it special for the people you care about. We are champions at homemade gifts, partially because we’re poor students but also because we know how sweet it feels to get gifts you know someone spent some extra time on. And let’s face it, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and there’s someone you’ve forgotten to buy for. We’re here to make your life easier, because this little hot chocolate diy is perfect for gift giving OR for favours during your holiday entertaining. AND we made you a little (free!) printable gift tag for some extra festive cheer.
These hot chocolate cones are super easy to make, and with only a few ingredients you probably already have at home! If you live in the GTA I found these snowflake printed cones at Creative Bag and they looked perfect! I also snagged two boxes of hot chocolate packets and mini marshmallows at the dollar store, and found mini chocolate chips and peppermint sprinkles at Target. I also snacked some peppermint candy sticks from Bulk Barn because they’re my favourite, and they looked just as cute as the crushed ones so feel free to use either!
To assemble, start with the hot chocolate. Gently sprinkle on the peppermint sprinkles to form a layer between the hot chocolate and chocolate chips, and then add about a teaspoon of chocolate chips. Top it off with a handful of marshmallows and tie with a pretty ribbon.
Once you’ve chosen your ribbon, attach your “baby it’s cold outside” printable for some extra pizzazz! We printed them 9 to a page (or “wallet sized”) and used a Fiskars 2″ punch to cut them out. But you can also just use scissors and cut along the line!
And that’s it! Add a little note on the back of the tag to make it extra personal 🙂
We’ll be taking a little break over the holidays to spend time with our families (that eggnog isn’t going to drink itself!) so we may be a bit sporadic over the next couple weeks. We wish you the merriest of Christmases and Happy Holidays from our families to yours!
