Get this free printable and make the perfect DIY guestbook for a housewarming party!
It’s official, we finally had our housewarming party on Saturday night. Think surprise snow, nine people sleepovers, balloon road trips, and nana jello shots. It was perfectly imperfect, as all housewarming parties should be.
This was actually our first experience with a housewarming party, and there are some things we learned we want to share. First, if you are a party blogger trying to take pictures of your housewarming party at 7:30pm on a January night in Canada, just don’t. You will have no natural light and it will look like a child took your photos. Sorry about that folks.
Second, you should ALWAYS have a Disney’s Up inspired thumbprint guestbook because you won’t have any regrets.
This was super easy to make, and my favourite thing about it is we can keep it on the wall in the living room. It’s the perfect reminder of how much fun that night was.
To make your own, here’s what you’ll need:
- a drawing of your house (you could sketch it if you’re talented, or use Photoshop like I did. If you don’t want to use your house, or if you live in an apartment, you could just as easily use a clipart version of a house) with balloon strings drawn on – I had mine printed at The Printing House for about $16, poster sized
- various ink pads (I used colours that matched my living room decor, since that’s where I knew I was hanging the final product)
- our printable guestbook sign
- a Sharpie
And that’s it! Have your guests leave their thumbprint and sign a message on it that you can remember for ever. It’s super easy, but adorably personal – perfect for that home sweet home feeling!
P.S. – If you have annoying little brothers who attend your party you might want to supervise your guestbook, to avoid “Happy Birthday” messages from your sibling, nowhere near where the other thumbprints are and literally five months before your birthday. Ugh.
