A little sneak peak into our upcoming Party Box: party popcorn and a free printable thank you tag!
We’re working on the next Party Box for the Shop and instead of sharing the behind the scenes afterwards, we’re letting you in on some of the fun FIRST. Can you guess what our next theme is? You’ll have to catch some of the projects up on the blog in the next couple weeks for more hints, AND some of the projects, details, and sneak peaks we’ll be sharing! This is also a good time to remind you of our Instagram (@bythepartygirl) because let me tell you, we’ve been busy bees over there.
Anyways, today we’re sharing my personal favourite favour idea yet: party popcorn! What is party popcorn you ask? WELL, basically it is normal, run of the mill popcorn, with CHOCOLATE AND SPRINKLES! Does it not make you think of a party [in your mouth]?! Exactly. We’re not the first to obsess over party popcorn, and there isn’t really a “recipe”, but if you haven’t tried it you’re missing out. It’s the perfect mix of salty and sweet, and a crowd pleaser every time. Plus really, it’s so damn pretty!
How to Make Party Popcorn!
*makes 3 1.5 cup servings
2 bags of microwave popcorn
1/2 cup sprinkles
melting chocolates/candies (any colour you want, I like classic white)
1 baking sheet (with medium height edges – trust me)
parchment paper/foil, to save the clean up
free “thank you for popping by” printable!
Depending on how many servings you need to make, you’ll either want to buy the old school kernels and pop ’em stovetop, old school style (oh man, that’s old school now, woah…) or prepare to go through a box of microwave popcorn. I have a natural distrust of stovetop popcorn (what are those sounds? why does it sound like a small war is being waged in that pot? what’s happening? there’s a fire for sure.) so I went the Orville route, and used two bags to make these three favour boxes. Minus a decent amount of handfuls for snack-age. Obvs.
You need a small handful of melting chocolates per 1 bag of microwave popcorn. While the popcorn is cooling, melt the chocolate/candies and pour the mixture over the popcorn. Quickly, while the chocolate is still melted, dump your sprinkles over the popcorn and get to work. I used my hands (be careful, it can be warm!) because it’s WAY easier, but you can also use salad tossers or something if you’re serving up a bunch of strangers/people who’d be fussy about your hands all up in there.
I got these little clear boxes at Creative Bag but you can find them at a lot of baking supply stores (or craft stores!) too. Tie the boxes with ribbon and use our free printable to complete the look! It’s perfect for gifting to friends after a – oh wait, you’ll have to guess the party theme 😉
