Get your Super Bowl 2015 party planning started with this free printable invite!
I am a casual football fan. Arguably the worst kind, I enjoy football the most in context: dark bars with friends, my dad’s living room with snacks, and Super Bowl. I think it’s the inner party planner in me that is most excited by the sense of community football presents within the context of these moments. As in, you get to eat a lot of food and watch a very entertaining show and regardless of your team affiliations everybody has a seriously good time. A few years ago Justin (who is a much more authentic sports fan than I am) and I started inviting friends over for Super Bowl so that I could try a bunch of new recipes and party printables I was making (for absolutely no reason, this was all pre-Party Girl, clearly I needed a creative outlet) and Justin had someone to discuss the game with that wasn’t more interested in nacho dip. It turned into this huge thing with a massive amount of food, an appreciative amount of beer, and hours of fun with friends we didn’t see nearly often enough.
Since then it’s become a tradition, and my interest in football has reach a level almost on par with my highschool days (when, as every self respecting small town girl must, I dated a football player and was expected to show appropriate enthusiasm and knowledge of the game) if not on the same level as an actual sports fan.
This is our second year hosting the party in Toronto, which is actually super fun because we made a whole different crowd of friends (although some people made the trip last year!) than our Ottawa party days. Last year I shared a bunch of fun printables we used at our party, like cupcake wrappers, food picks, a party planning checklist, table signs and a paper banner, and this year I have a few other little tricks to try (and share of course!).
Of course if you’re hosting a Super Bowl party you’re probably ready to start planning now that we know who’s playing this year! And what is any party without a super cute little invite to send to your friends? In these days of digital party planning I send little evites on Facebook (my friends aren’t super into email) but they’d work just as well printed and delivered, or emailed if you’re friends are grown ups 😉
Here’s what we’re sending out this week:
We thought we’d share this template with you to customize (if you don’t have Photoshop or another editing program you can use to add text, try PicMonkey, a free website that’s SUPER easy to use and has a lot of great free features!) and send out for your parties too!
And because I’m neurotic I even used the exactly colour codes for the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots (albeit mixed up a bit, there’s a balance between authenticity and aesthetic okay people!?) so you look like a sports fan even if you can’t name a quarterback.
Get the blank invite here.
Are you having a party? We want to hear about it! What are your plans for Super Bowl 2015?
Psst! Can’t figure out how to make your own invite? Because we’re such nice girls, if you can’t figure out how to add text to your invite we want to help you out! Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the text you want and we’ll make it for you (for free obviously, friends don’t charge friends for party planning goodies!) because we’re just good friends like that.
