Printable Super Bowl 2015 table signs for labelling ALL THAT FOOD!
So I have been obsessed about the Cricut for a REALLY long time, and for Christmas I finally got one and I cried. There were actual tears. I think it tied with the time I got a Furby for Christmas at like age 10. Or my stand mixer. Sometimes when I’m making royal icing in the stand mixer (and by that I mean watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians while my mixer does the hard work for 10 minutes that used to be me and my arm weeping over the bowl) I still get a little emotional about that one. But seriously, I was so excited – and then it was New Years and we were busy, and then we were on our vacation, and then we came back two weeks behind in school and madly prepping for The Red Carpet (more about that later, but heads up Toronto people, you should buy your tickets STAT!) and I just never got around to playing with it, and then Sunday night I decided I wanted to drag it out in time for my Valentine’s brunch prep (oh god) and instead spent my entire night making this:
It took me three hours. Three hours not in crafting bliss but instead in tears and frustration and a bottle of wine and some angry texts to Fernanda later, I was OVERJOYED watching my little sticker be born. Justin was seriously concerned. And then MAYBE I skipped school Monday to play with it some more, and I’ve been busy completely redesigning my Super Bowl table around it, and I cannot WAIT until Thursday because you won’t BELIEVE what I’ve dreamed up, BUT all of this is to say I completely forgot about today’s post. Which was supposed to be all about the adorable chalkboard table signs I made, but now that I’m pretty sure I’m redesigning my entire table (first world problems, I hate myself right now) these seem so sad.
STILL, I was excited about them once and I am determined not to let my newfound ENDLESS possibilities of craft projects make these little guys less cute! My plan was to throw in some chalkboard elements to tone down the crazy colours coming from every other angle, so I created these guys.
Now okay, it was not until recently that I learned table signs are not a real thing. That is to say nobody EVER said “Ashley, why do you label all your food?” and so I assumed EVERYBODY did it, but actually I just LOVE signs and typography so that’s how it started. Well it started with my grandmother was indulgent and let me handmake our place cards for family dinners my entire life (my ENTIRE life) so I always assumed labelling was normal. But still. I think table signs are adorable and everybody should do it. Rant over.
You can print them on 4 x 6 (I was going to print them at work last night to show you guys but completely forgot and I ran out of ink printing PG logos yesterday for the Cricut, whoops) and fold them in half. The best part about it is you see both sides of the sign when you’re standing up (as in, over the food table where I will be all night) so it looks sort of casually cool from the front and then BAM it’s football themed. Alternatively (as suggested by Justin who is reading this right now because he has NOTHING BETTER to do than judge me about my Cricut rant) they would fit in inexpensive frames so you could always stand them up to see the full design from the front.
He’s walked away now so I can admit I like that idea. Damn it.
