We’re heading straight into the first weekend of November, and it’s already jam-packed with some super fun (and diverse – #torontolife) events to keep you busy. The Weekender is going to get a bit of a facelift in the next few weeks, so let us know what you think about the Toronto events series in the comments to help make the makeover perfection.
In the meantime, get out your day planners because here’s what you need to check out this weekend:
Shamelessly including Shameless Karaoke because it will never get old. Looking for some post-dinner cocktail fun on Friday night (or just need to get out of the house – you know who you are)? You need to be at the Gladstone for the self-billedd “outrageous, ridiculous, knock your socks off fun night of karaoke. Watch out Celine, move over Mariah and sit your single lady butt down Beyonce and take the stage for your five minutes of fame!” I can’t actually suggest you get on stage because I don’t want to be responsible for any regrets, but if you do I fully expect to be tagged in some Instagram photos for proof. Get the details on their event page.
The Toronto Etsy Street Team presents – A Crafty Intervention at the Gibson House Museum
Attention all handmade lovers, T.E.S.T is bringing you something different this weekend with their Crafty Intervention event at the historic Gibson House Museum in North York. Self-described as “a weekend of Victorian crafts and local, handmade wares featuring 8 Etsy vendors in the historic Gibson House Museum” it’s a weekend market of Victorian crafts and unique handmade goods. Vendors will be located throughout the historic house offering their hand-crafted wares for sale and providing demonstrations of their work. Get your holiday shopping done early while enjoying the warmth and comfort of the historic house. Learn more on their website here.
Toronto Island Open House
The perfect event for Party Girl’s thinking about having a wedding, party or corporate event on the Island? Head out to the Island to meet vendors and venues in person, and talk shop with event specialists, explore meal ideas and sample food from local caterers, consult with an accredited wine educator, discover beautiful rental options, get inspiration from Island designers and find out all you need to know about boats, transportation, accommodation and logistics. The open house takes place Saturday, 7 November 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Algonquin Island Association – 18 Wyandot Avenue, and you can learn more on their site.
Pre-Holiday Pop-Up Market
It’s the most wonderful time of the year – pop up holiday market season! If you aren’t a fan of weekending at pop up markets, sipping hot chocolate and wandering aisles of handmade vendors, you are in the wrong place because that is my life blood. Just kidding, but you should really get out there and make a life change because trust me, it’s a good time. The first holiday market to appear in our Weekender this season is the Toronto Urban Collective market, taking place at 99 Sudbury on Sunday November 8 11-6 and featuring “a collection of the city’s finest independent artists, craft-makers, musicians, photographers, designers, and gourmet food makers. Featuring unique artisans from all over the city, Toronto Urban Collective is the place for discovery.” It’s also the place for gourmet snacks and Toronto-bred djs spinning those good vibes all afternoon, so really there’s something for everything. Check out the vendors and get tickets here.
Did we miss something? There’s always so much going on in Toronto on the weekends, it can be hard to just choose a few highlights – or even find all the goodies. Let us know about anything you think we missed in the comments below, and obvs if you’re checking something killer out this weekend we want to hear about it!
