Dress up your Thanksgiving table with these gold pumpkin place card holders!
I’ve already talked about my love for fall dinner parties, and Thanksgiving is like the Olympics of dinner parties. All your family, everybody feeling festive, it’s like the one holiday literally about dinner. I mean okay, it’s about other things. I remember the grade one curriculum. There were Pilgrims and the Mayflower and stuff. But at the end of the day, Thanksgiving celebrations everywhere have one thing in common – food.
And so my favourite activity each year is decking out the table. This year I’ve already shared the perfectly adorable (and on trend) cutlery pocket printable, and today we have another crowd pleaser – the gold pumpkin place card holder.
Place cards are the ultimate dinner party accessory. They’re fun and sweet and personal and the best way to be creative. And what’s more fall-esque than mini pumpkins spray painted gold? They’re CRAZY easy to make – literally, you have basically everything you need between the grocery store and your junk drawer – but they make the cutest extra touch!
First, you need mini pumpkins. Now, I could only track down regular mini pumpkins, but I KNOW I have seen mini white ones around. If you can find white ones you can skip a step, but if not it’s pretty easy to add a base coat (the gold shows up brighter on the white background than orange).
The best place to spray paint anything is outdoors where you can’t accidentally ruin anything important and you won’t breathe in a ton of toxic chemicals. However if you live on the 22nd floor, the second best place to spray paint is inside a giant Homesense bag on your kitchen counter at 11pm. Boyfriends especially like waking up to your mess before work at 5am. Just ask mine.
Anyways, after your paint is dry you can move on to the next step. Use a small screwdriver to make a little hole in your pumpkin. Then, unfold one end of a large paper clip to form a long “stem”. Make sure you unfold the end that leaves a clip at the top to slide your place card in after.
