Get out your day planners, we have your list of things to do in Toronto this weekend!
It feels weird to imagine having a moment to slip away for some TO time this weekend, but there’s so much going on in the city I feel like we’ll be making some excuses to our homework and checking out some of these super cool events. And don’t worry, we have you covered. Here’s a few of the things we think you should check out this weekend:
Yule Ball
I am totally going to geek out right now and say I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. Like okay not next-level-posters-in-my-living-room-can-quote-the-movie-and-have-multiple-costume-options fan, but enough so that whenever I see a Harry Potter themed event I get REALLY excited. That’s why the Yule Ball (put on by the Ministry of Magic of course) is officially my new favourite thing. First of all, there’s a butterbeer mocktail hour, a live wizard rock performance by nerdfighter and HP enthusiast, Lauren Fairweather (naturally) as well as a formal waltz and PRIZES so there’s really no reason you shouldn’t be there. The ball is happening Friday night and you can get the details here.
Bellwoods Flea
You know I’m always down for a flea, and when they’re teaming up with TEST (Toronto Etsy Street Team, yeah of course I know their acronym) to do some goodness for the homeless I’m especially committed to making it down for the Bellwoods Flea. It’s the first weekend of the flea (happening this Saturday) and the bar will be open during (because obvs) so you don’t want to miss it. Featuring the usual goodies (art, collectibles, handmade, fashion, and vintage all in one place) you know you’re going home happy! Get more info here.
Total Wedding Show
January means wedding show season, and this weekend we’ve got another one headed your way, this time at the International Centre all weekend! Check out over 350 wedding vendors from southern Ontario all in once place. There’s the latest in bridal fashion, a massive gown sale, and free parking which is a luxury in itself. Get tickets and details at the website.
Villa Toronto
For all you art lovers out there, Toronto has always been a mecca for underground art shows and cultural events. This weekend you get to see one of the coolest gallery ideas ever: co-organized by Raster Gallery in Warsaw and Art Metropole, over 20 contemporary art galleries will take over Union Station for Villa Toronto, a major contemporary art festival that’s previously been held in Tokyo and Reykjavik. Concerts and other events will run in conjunction with the fest. Read more here.
Did we miss something? Let us know if there’s something going on you think we should check out, and tell us what you’re up to this weekend!
