Grab your calendar, it’s time to plan your weekend!
We’ve almost recovered from our long weekend, and the first step to getting over it is moving on…with plans for next weekend! Fernanda and I are psyched because we’re headed to Brand Bash, and I have another Thanksgiving dinner (my life is bliss right now) but there’s still hope for you! Get out your day planners girls, we’ve got your weekend plans all ready for you.
Delicious Food Show
I think whenever the word delicious is in the title you need to stop what you’re doing and make it priority to be there. I love food shows, so I’m supremely jealous I might have to miss out on this one for the SECOND year in a row. The show runs all weekend and features a ton of amazing vendors, live cooking demonstrations, culinary classes, and celebrities. As in Chuck Hughes. CHUCK HUGHES WILL BE THERE. My life is less blissful. Anyways, get more details about parking and tickets at the website here.
Brick or Treat
My sisters have not stopped talking about Brick or Treat for what feels like a lifetime. If you don’t have littles, you aren’t up on the current trend that is everything Lego. Brick or Treat is like the Lego Land version of Halloween themed heaven for children, and I’m not kidding about the level of excitement involved here. The event is being held at Vaughan Mills every Saturday and Sunday this month all day, and there’s a bunch of stuff to keep the kids busy, including a build your own monster station, scavenger hunt, costume contest, and more. Get all the details here.
I grew up in a Scottish household so I’m not new to whisky. The McAllister are raised to appreciate the finest whiskies, and my grandfather is probably solely responsible for supporting the whisky industry in Canada. So Whisky Live is on my calendar all year round as something my favourite guy should be reminded of. This year’s tasting is Saturday from 5-10pm. Admission is a bit pricey, but you get to sample the greatest whiskies as well as access to a dinner buffet and live entertainment, so there’s something to be said about that. If you have an interest in whiskies this is definitely your date for Saturday evening. Get more info at their website.
Okay, so the title of this one gets me every time. I’m five years old inside. But actually my brother’s girlfriend is a supremely talented dancer, so I’m always tapped into the different dance related events going on in the city. I found Flying Bach completely by accident but my brother and I have been obsessed ever since. Basically it’s some mega-pro break dancers blowing your mind to classical music, but that’s actually such a poor summary you need to youtube it to understand. The show is on until December so get tickets while you can!
Made By Hand
It’s no secret that I love all things handmade, and crafts are basically my entire life. Since you’re reading this I can only assume you feel similar, so that’s why you need to check out the Made By Hand show this weekend. If you’ve ever been to the One of a Kind Show you can imagine how this one goes: it’s like Etsy and OOAK had a beautiful shopping baby. The metaphor got lost in there somewhere but basically it’s amazing. Want to get some early Christmas shopping done and support Canadian makers? This is your one stop shop. Get all the details here.
And that’s that! We’re already trying to wiggle our weekend around to fit some of these in (I’m still whining about the Chuck Hughes thing) but in the meantime, what are your plans? Let us know in the comments, and of course if we’ve forgotten something on our list we want to hear about that too!
