Get out your day planners, it’s time to plan your weekend in Toronto!
We’re on our fall break this week and so it is bittersweet to say that it’s time for the Weekender. How is it possible that it’s Wednesday already? I feel slightly ill just saying that, BUT on the bright side it’s almost Halloween, AND there’s some pretty cool stuff happening to keep us busy this weekend, so that’s helps. Check it all out below:
ROM Friday Night Live
When I was living in Ottawa I dragged all my friends to this event called Nature Nocturn. It was on a frigid winter night and there was a huge line up and everybody froze but there was a bar and DINOSAURS so everybody was happy. Well, I was happy. But I digress. Friday Night Live is like the Toronto (read: warmer) version of that, but bigger and with the most delicious line up of popup food vendors imaginable. This Friday’s event theme is Fashion Global and starts at 7pm. You can get advance tickets for $12 ($10 for students!) here.
Bids and Beers
This event is perfect for all you craft beer lovers out there. Combining a craft beer tasting atmosphere with a vintage live auction, for $15 you get beer, food, and music, plus the chance to take home some vintage finds, so really. Get more info (although that graphic ^ is pretty sick) here.
Lollipop Art Lounge: Halloween Workshop
Need to ditch the kids and have some me time this weekend? Just kidding, but seriously, if you’re looking for some weekend fun for the littles, Lollipop Art Lounge has a Specialty Workshop for Halloween this Saturday 2:30-4:30pm. Depending on what level of crafting your kids are into (start ’em young I always say!) the sessions range from $45-$80. Register for one of the sessions at the Lounge website here.
Toronto Fashion Week
Most of our friends know more about the Toronto Fashion Week after parties than any of the shows, BUT if you happen to be a little more cultured than that, you probably already know that Toronto’s biggest fashion event is back. You can get the full line up on the website, OR here’s the schedule:
This is probably my favourite of the events this weekend. Saturday night after close the Bloor/Gladstone Library becomes a speakeasy stack party. You can get early bird tickets for $115 here which includes dinner from Rock Lobster, jazz music, a DJ, a secret bar with a signature drink, and the opportunity to wear your favourite cocktail dress. Get more details (well, as much detail as you can get about an underground event) here.
That’s it for this weekend, what do you think? See anything that has you texting your friends (I’m notorious for the “who’s working this Saturday night, I want to go [blank]” so you aren’t alone)?
If we missed something, let us know! If you know of something amazing we should be at this weekend, we want in invite. Leave it in the comments below, and have a great Wednesday!
