Happy Wednesday! It’s time for another post about what you should be doing this weekend, so get out your day planners and get ready to fill that social card because this week is a biggie!
Le Burger Week
This event combines some of my favourite things, including eating, burgers, and parties you can participate in by doing something you already do. It’s the kind of laid back level of involvement I can get behind. The point of this week long food fest is to sample some of Toronto’s best burgers, and then vote for your fave. You can even win some cool prizes! So to recap: you pick a restaurant with a contender on the menu, go out with your friends, have a life-affirming burger, and then maybe walk away with some fun stuff. It’s a no brainer. Get more details on how to play the game on their website.
It’s that time of year again, the movie people are in town and if you haven’t perfected how to navigate the city around showtimes yet, you have literally a day to work that out because TIFF kicks off (officially, but also maybe not officially?) tomorrow. Movie buff? You can get the full schedule at the website here, and get tickets as of now on the website for package deals or just one show. A lot of downtown restaurants are offering some special menu items as well this week, so even if you aren’t into the movie festival scene you can still catch a meal with some friends and feel like a part of the spotlight. Just make a reservation now – otherwise good luck elbowing A-listers out of the way for prime tables. Actually that sounds like fun. If you do that, we want to hear about it.
Obviously this one is a little less likely to appeal to you if you aren’t looking to spice up your weekend, but Riot Fest is in town featuring some amazing bands (I’m still mourning the fact I can’t catch Death Cab on the Sunday – tears forever) and there are still some passes left for each day. Get the lineup here, and snag some tickets for you and a friend!
If you’re out Sunday from 12-6pm in the College and Bathurst area and feeling like some geek chic, there’s an artisans market just for you at The Comic Book Lounge featuring some handmade goodies that will brighten your nerdy day. Get more details on their website or Facebook page, but it’s worth a browse if you’re in the neighbourhood!
If you aren’t into the niche market-market (get it?) there’s a classic happening at the Harbourfront Centre just for you (and me, not going to lie). September may be bittersweet, but what is really exciting about the beginning of a new month is that the Leslieville Flea is back, 10-5 on Sunday at the North Exhibition Common. I’m hoping to swing by there in the afternoon on the hunt for a setee I’ll have to smuggle into our apartment. Maybe I’ll see you there! Need more details on this one? Visit their website here.
And that’s all! Let us know if you have anything we should add to our list, or what things you think you’ll check out this weekend.
