We have a lot of big ideas planned for the Party Girl, and there may be a lot of shifting around in the next few weeks as we find the perfect fit for our HQ. To start, we’re shaking up the Weekender this week and we’re excited about all the new changes we hope you’ll see.
Why start with the Weekender? As any Toronto lover knows, there’s a lot going on in this city every day of the week, not just weekenders. We’re redefining the “weekend”, where everyday is an opportunity to try something new, shop local, and enjoy the events that help you celebrate the everyday.
Today’s Weekender celebrates a week of cool new events you need to pencil in!
Thug Kitchen Book Launch
Probs the edgiest recipes you’ve ever seen, Thug Kitchen is launching their first cookbook at The Drake Monday night and you should check it out! Think recipes with a new twist (as in, not your grandmother’s cookbook) and free food. You can help celebrate the launch of Thug Kitchen Party Grub tonight at 8pm at the Drake Hotel Lounge. RSVP and get more details on the event page here.
Adult Wine Colouring Night
Get in on the new trend for creative minds – adult colouring. And this event is even better because there will be wine. Weekdays are hard – unwind with the most fun kind of therapy, and enjoy snacks and drinks from the cafe. Colouring Night is being held tomorrow night 7-9:30pm at Story Planet. Admission is PWYC with all proceeds going to Story Planet. Get more details here.
Evening at the Market
Need a break from TV dinners and takeout? Does the pizza guy know you by name (guilty)? You need a change. St. Lawrence Market has the answer to all your dinner woes – “an exciting culinary experience taking place at the historic South Market”. Featuring unique food offerings from the Market’s merchants, guests get food and drinks and can enjoy live entertainment. There will be live cooking demos from celebrity chefs Lynn Crawford and Lora Kirk, and aerial performances from Zero Gravity Circus. Not sold yet? Some of the food highlights include chocolates made on site and spaghetti tossed in a parmesan wheel so you know. Get your tickets and more here.
Get a head start on your Christmas shopping (yeah, we’re already there – I can’t believe it either) at our favourite handmade market! Bellwoods Flea is setting up with Indie88 at 831 Dundas St W on Saturday 11-6 and featuring some of the greatest in Toronto handmade. Shop local, enjoy some house Caesar’s, and play some vintage video games – it’s the trifecta of a Saturday. Get the details here.
111th Santa Claus Parade
And finally, it’s that time of year again – it’s the Toronto Santa Claus Parade! There isn’t much to share about this one – the parade starts at 12:30 at Christie Pitts park and follows the route downtown to end at the St. Lawrence Market. Get there early to enjoy what might be the mildest parade we’ve had in a while (spoken from someone who caught a parade in a snowstorm in her lifetime). You can learn more on the parade website.
