This love potion recipe is sure to make your Valentine’s Day celebration the perfect girl’s night in!
While it’s typically a romantic holiday, I love spending Valentine’s Day with my girlfriends. This Valentine’s Day I’m celebrating with my best friend Emily – we’re having a girls night, or a “Galentine’s Day”, as it’s often called. We’ll be taking advantage of all the chocolate filling the shelves at the drug store, and of course sampling some cocktails. I thought it would be fun to come up with a special recipe, perfect for a girl’s night, just for Valentine’s Day.
I’m sharing the recipe for this “love potion” today so you can give it a try for your own celebrations. Whether you’re hosting a valentine brunch this weekend, having a date night with your significant other, or staying in with the ladies, this cocktail is a delicious – and refreshing – treat.
As an added bonus – I know how hard it can be to find time for weeknight celebrations! – it’s VERY easy to make.
Love Potion Recipe
champagne (alternatively you can swap this for vodka if you aren’t a fan of carbonation)
strawberry Italian soda
*optional* garnish with mint
In a small sifter, add your flavoured Italian soda (I found mine in the juice aisle of my small town grocery store, so I have no fear you’ll find a similar substitute) over ice, so that the glass is approximately two thirds full. Add another third of champagne.
To make the heart strawberry garnish, first core your strawberry and then slice it in half. Using a small knife, carve out the top so that it forms a heart shape. Cut a small slice into the bottom the of the strawberry, so that it can perch on the side of your glass.
That’s it! Using two ingredients but easily customizable, this cocktail pairs perfectly with chocolate dipped strawberries and a chick flick.
