Despite it not feeling at all true, it’s officially spring. And with Easter coming up this weekend and a few different celebrations to hit up in the next few days, I’ve been stockpiling some different desserts to bring with us. And in a valiant effort to not eat the remaining mini eggs (from those like four pound bags you can get, that we should never have gotten?) I decided the first week of spring was the perfect opportunity to make some bird nests cupcake toppers.
These little chocolate bird’s nests are easy to make – all you need are some candy melts, and mini eggs to stand in as the prettiest (and tastiest) bird eggs you’ve ever seen.
First, group your mini eggs together on a parchment paper and draw a circle around them. This way you can make sure your eggs will fit in the nest after it’s finished. Then, melt some chocolate candy melts and pour into a ziplock bag. Snip off the corner and pipe a few circles around your outline. Let it sit for a minute, and then draw zig zag lines all over, making a “nest” shape. It will only need a couple minutes to harden, and then you can place it on top of your cupcake.
It’s a quick last minute project, but it adds a lot of charm to your Easter desserts!
And with that I’m signing off, but I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend 🙂
