Looking for things to do in Toronto this weekend? Get out your day planners because we have you covered!
I can’t believe how close we are to Christmas, and I’m way behind on my Christmas shopping despite the intense holiday market-love in Toronto these days. But if you aren’t stuck in a mall this weekend, there are still a ton of fun (and family-friendly!) activities to enjoy!
Here’s what you should check out this weekend:
Kensington Market Winter Solstice
It’s not the holiday’s until you set a giant fire in the middle of a downtown street and celebrate with a bunch of costumed revelers, so if that sounds like your idea of holiday spirit you need to check out the Kensington Market Winter Solstice Sunday night 6pm-10pm. Head to Augusta and check out the night-defying surprises, giant puppets, pyrotechnics and fire jugglers. You can also donate to their Kickstarter, or get more info here.
Holiday Farmers’ Market
The holiday edition of the Evergreen Brickworks Farmers’ Market features all the regular features (local food, ingredients, VQA wines, and farmers to talk shop with) PLUS local handmade gifts, a Holiday Beverage Garden with mulled wine and cider, live music on Sundays, and more! The market happens Saturday 9am-1pm and Sunday 10am-3pm. And if you pick something up why not take advantage of their eco-gift wrapping, using natural and recyclable materials, with all proceeds benefiting community programs. Get more details here.
Breakfast with Santa
If you have littles and you’re looking for some pre-Christmas holiday fun this weekend we have you covered. Saturday and Sunday at the Palais Royale you can make your kids a date with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event features a breakfast buffet, photos with Santa (bring your camera!), storytime with the elves, a holiday bake sale and more! Get the dates and times as well as tickets here.
Parkdale Flea Holiday Edition
My favourite market is back with their Christmas edition, featuring antiques, vintage items, collectables, designer goodies, local artisans, crafts, food and drinks, and more. AND it’s free, so really. Get your holiday shopping done Saturday 4pm-11pm and Sunday 10am-5pm, and four legged friends are welcome! More details here.
Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove
Another hit for the littles, but if you’ve never checked out a Disney on Ice show before you are missing out. The show kicks off this Thursday and runs until December 28th and tickets are as low as $28. The Treasure Trove show is all the Disney favourites in one charming performance, featuring all the Disney princesses and an adventure they’ll be talking about for days! Get tickets and a fun preview video here.
